Findom Tips: Marketing & Promotions

Picking Your Name

Picking Your Name

You will want to create a set of accounts that are completely disconnected from your personal / vanilla accounts.  Before you create any accounts, do some searches on Google & Twitter to be sure there is not already a notable lady with the same name. Check to see if your name or something like "servemiss___.com" is available using a domain search tool such as godaddy. You may not be ready to buy a domain name, but knowing what is available will give you a good idea of how unique your chosen name is.

Be sure to keep in mind what your name will portray as Princess has a different tone than Madame for example & your name begins to establish your brand (see below).   Once you have chosen a name be sure to create accounts on all the major sites (google, yahoo, twitter, skype, Collarspace, FetLife, etc) to be sure no one else can use same name in the future.

Establish Your Brand

Your "brand" or image is very simply how others see you and what they think of when they hear your name.  When you hear Louboutin, you likely instantly think of expensive, red heeled shoes - that is their brand.  Louboutin has an interest in protecting that brand so for example, they would not want you to see a  a pair of Louboutins at Walmart with green soles for $29.99.  That sort of difference in price & expectations would leave you as the consumer extremely confused & unlikely to buy the red or green soled versions.

As a Findom, you need to establish your brand or identity so potential subs are not left confused by drastic differences in how you present yourself & what you are looking for.   Subs who are seeking a $20 cam session with a young lady in lingerie are looking for different things than a lifestyle submissive seeking TPE.  It is important to know who you are marketing to & to tie your brand to their needs while clearly laying out their options to serve you.

Every profile you create online or post you share on social media contributes to how potential subs see you.  It is important to know how you want a potential to see you & think of you as you begin to use your new accounts.  This does not imply you should create a persona or fake how you present yourself, simply that you need to choose what you share with your followers and be aware of the impact.

There are findoms of all shapes, sizes & races with some who are always clad in jeans & work  boots to others who love latex & leather.  There are spoiled brat princess types, to spiritual Goddesses, to whip wielding Mistresses, to hippy farmers.  Some love hardcore CBT & humiliation & others never even acknowledge a man's fetishes beyond his money.

You can not be all of those things & should not try.  Be yourself & do the things you enjoy while sharing them with your followers, but try to present a clear image to your potentials so they know what to expect - it will save you tons of time in the long run.   Be sure to keep in mind the practicality of the image you are putting out there.  If you hate wearing heels & hoisery and only wear them once a month, don't create a website full of pics in the 1 pair you own.

If you establish your brand based around who you are naturally and what you enjoy most, it will make marketing yourself much more efficient. You will read more in the Twitter section, but you should be sharing pics often so you will want to use what you already do to your advantage.  Do you love makeup & take an hour a day doing it? Perfect, you can snap pics or ignore subs while you do it.  Do you work in fields and are always messy? Great, you have used socks guys will love.  If you work in fields 6 days a week you could have a brand of you as an elegant, well dressed lady (and you may of course be one), but practically speaking it would be very challenging to present that image efficiently on a regular basis.

Clearly State a Sub's Options

There are many sites that address what exactly a findom is compared to a Pro, compared to a cam model etc so I decided to leave it alone.  When something is debated and as unclear as those definitions, your opinion (or anyone elses) frankly doesn't matter from a practical perspective. What is important is that you acknowledge the lack of clarity contributes to legit confusion with potential submissives.  One lady calling herself a findom who operates more like a cam model will have drastically different expectations from another findom who just wants tributes &  to another whose expectations might be closer to a traditional professional Mistress.

When a submissive approaches a Professional Mistress for the first time about a real time session, it is fairly common for them to ask a few questions or have a discussion before a deposit is sent.  This is not a role playing / phone sex call, but rather a practical discussion around kinks, limits & scheduling.  Findoms on the other hand often assume any question from a sub is from a time waster, because they did not send money first.  If you call yourself a findom, but the sub sees you as a more traditional pro, they may be asking a legit question that you have not already provided the answer to.

Whether you define yourself as a Findom or a Pro is mildly important, but what is critical is that you provide a potential sub with clear guidance on how to approach you & what their options are.  Until you have provided this information you often only have yourself to blame for the "time wasting questions" that may be coming from very legit submissives.

Twitter

Twitter is the best way to enforce your brand & stay in touch with your fans easily.  The elegant lady can easily post a photo of her leg in some Wolfords, while the Princess types can post pics laying in bed being waited on. I always recommend trying to Tweet 8-10 times a day sharing at least 2 pictures a day and a video every few days.  Be sure to follow other findoms, interact with them ( not with their subs), and make Twitter a habit.

Using ReTweet subs is useful a bit, but they have limited value.  Be sure to check how many followers they have & use the ones with shorter ids to save you tweet space.  You can use a site like this to see how many followers the RT sub has that you do not.  You can set a goal for them to improve the overlap.

Do not ask subs to RT your entire timeline or 100's of your posts all at once. As soon as my feed gets filled by any 1 person I simply stop following them and the lady. If you want a RT sub to be effective, have them share 1 of your posts every 2 hours or use a tool like hootsuite to schedule tweets for you.

Be Human

I don't know how else to say this except that it is ok to act & speak like a normal human at times and still be a Findom.  Not every tweet you post has to be about how useless men are and how much you love money.  Do not become so jaded with time wasters that you assume the worst in everyone and miss out on legit opportunities. Be bratty, be mean, be yourself, but don't become so robotic about it that it sounds like you are on repeat & lack any personality.
